Hi, I’m Ann,

a Clinical Psychologist and CBT Psychotherapist.

About me…

After many years of studying and training across the UK, I now live and work by the sea in Sussex which is where I grew up. Having trained and worked in the NHS for over a decade I currently work primarily in independent practice whilst also providing training and supervision within the NHS and for Health Education England.

I have worked with many different people including those with mental and physical health conditions and have worked in UK leading centres for the treatment of anxiety, trauma and psychosis as well as specialist services for people with cancer and neurological conditions.

I am very fortunate to love what I do and seeing first-hand the benefits that people gain from talking and being supported through their problems increases my passion and drive to help.

Outside of my work I am an avid reader, an occasional runner and a proud Mum to two boys. My own life, like most, has had its challenges; but I very much believe that these experiences help me every day to better understand and support the people I work with.

My approach

Clinical Psychologists are trained over many years to doctorate level. This enables us to help people using a wide-range of scientifically proven and recommended talking therapies.

My specialist expertise is in:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

with which I have treated anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), psychosis, bipolar disorder, issues with anger and low self-esteem amongst other difficulties.

In addition to CBT, I also use other psychological therapy approaches including but not limited to:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Mindfulness

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Systemic and Family Therapies

  • Voice Dialoguing

Therapy with me is collaborative and transparent. We will work together towards your goals and develop an understanding of the challenges bringing you to therapy. I work flexibly and tailor therapy to suit your needs and regularly review therapy to make sure you are making progress in the way you want to.

Finding the right fit

It can be confusing choosing a therapist. To help you to decide if my approach would suit you here are some general points about what you can expect from the therapy I offer:

  • Relatively short-term therapy (average between 8 – 20 sessions)

  • A structured, goal-oriented approach

  • Regular reviews of progress and feedback

  • Learning and trying out new strategies

  • Working between as well as during therapy sessions

In order for you to get the most from therapy, it is fundamental to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and can trust. If you would like to ask questions and get a sense of whether we might work well together then I would be very happy to hear from you to arrange a chat.
